New House Construction + ADU, Gilroy
Ground-up construction of an approximately 4,000 SF single family house, a 630 SF ADU (accessory dwelling unit) and two garages.
The lot is located on the hillside making both the design and the permitting challenging. The falling grade triggered the concept the house design divided into sections and shifted vertically following the natural slope. Minimizing of the cut and fill was important for the drainage design and minimizing the excavation costs. Special materials and design had to be implemented due to the WUI requirements (Wildland Urban Interface area). Modern design of the structure and preserving the views were very important to the owners.
