Anna is an absolute professional. We interviewed 8 architects for a residential development project that we have and chose her because of her experience, portfolio and her responsiveness and communication was second to none. We contacted Anna when we were considering building an ADU on our private property. Since we were dealing with a construction project for the first time, we appreciated Anna's help tremendously. She was super nice and professional, and the most responsive and helpful person that we spoke with during the pre-design phase. Her knowledge and experience in the field was very obvious from our first call, and she helped us to brainstorm and better understand our options and the feasibility of our ideas before we even hired her. Once she had the job she kept going, she's the most responsive, detail oriented Architect I've ever worked with. She came out, met with all the people working on the job, resubmitted with all comments answered, and I got the permit with her first review! I'll be using her on all my future projects. She works on everything from multi-million dollar commercial projects and still takes residential projects.

Anna was very professional in her approach and incredibly _prompt_ in her responses. Her work always seemed very thorough, which resulted in our permit approval process to breeze past far more quickly than we had anticipated. She was very quick at following and understanding our expectations from the redesign, during our initial conversation and the many follow ups we had over the phone. To our surprise, we were able to get all of the decisions down over phone calls during lockdown restrictions, with only the information gathered in her one elaborate visit to our house. A remarkable thing we noticed in our experience was, though she is well-versed with the city code, she would still cover all bases to see if her knowledge and assumptions reflect the current guidance from the city, and would also share citations from it to help understand our limitations. In our experience, one thing we would have liked more of is, her input in our redesign goal and her thoughts and ideas on any creative ways to reach those goals. Working with Anna was really hassle-less, and far more smooth than we had heard from others experiences. We are glad to recommend Anna to anyone looking for an architect for big or small projects. th

Anna is an amazing architect to work with. We hired Anna after our previous architect disappeared after doing half the job. We had a very difficult project as our home in Gilroy was considered historical a lot of loops to go through. After contact Anna we were able to meet and show her what we had and what we needed. Within less then a month she was able to submit them to they city and we got our permit. She walks you through everything constantly keeping in contact with you and the city until the permit is in our hands. What took the previous architect over a year Anna was able to do 100x quicker and more professional. The city was even very please with what we submitted with our previous architect to what we submitted with Anna. Hands down she is an amazing person and awesome architect and we would HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking for an architect!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Anna Purvis Architecture. Anna is very professional and great to work. Prior to me obtaining Anna service, working with the city was a total nightmare experience. With Anna, she explained what was needed from the city. Her architectural design that was submitted to the city was accurate and dead on. We received the permit from the city within a month. This process normally takes months to complete. Along with her knowledge and expertise, Anna was always there when I had any questions regarding my project. Great communication. Anna created the architectural design and scope of work for a kitchen remodeling project. Since we wanted to remove a wall and a chimney, we wanted to make sure that the design was structurally correct. She evaluated the structural elements and worked with us to develop the new design which would better utilize the space. She worked with a structural engineer to put together all the documents required for permitting and submitted the paperwork for us. We then provided Anna's design to get bids from which we chose a contractor for execution.I was impressed by how responsive Anna is - whenever we had questions she always answered right away. She is also very straightforward about the timeline. For the parts over which she had control, she always delivered on or ahead of schedule. For the parts out of her control (e.g., city permitting process) she gave us updates and realistic estimates of the time it would take based on her extensive experience with the permitting process and with our city in particular. Anna also gave us valuable advice regarding contractor licensing and insurance so we could choose a reputable company. We felt secure knowing that the design for the remodel was developed by a professional who knows the codes and does not cut corners, and I would certainly recommend her to others.

I am the owner of a 4,000 square foot custom home. I bought a 30,000 sf foot wooded lot in west side of Gilroy 20 years ago and built a house for the 10 members of my family. Now we are an empty nester and we feel the need to remodel the home for our changing needs. Our home is unique and I needed an architect who can transform the house as we look to make changes to our lives.
Right from the beginning, Anna impressed me with how responsive she was. That trait was consistent through out the project. She get back to me usually within a couple hours.
Next thing I noticed was her level of professionalism. She listened well to my requests. In fact, the first draft of the remodeling plan met 100% of my asks. I have done many design and engineering projects of consumer products over the years, I've never had anyone who can nail all of a customer's verbal requests in a single pass.
Value? I would say Anna's price is absolutely fair. I actually had another architect a few months back did the same thing for much less, and the work was basically garbage. Ironically that guy had the best rating on Thumbtack for my area code (95020) . Not sure how he got to the top of the list. In any case, I think Anna should be the one of the top of that list and not that guy.
Quality? Because she nailed all my requirements in the first pass, there was just a little back and forth and the design work was done. She has a good sense for design and a good understanding of the technical aspects of construction. In other words, she has a good eye for aesthetic and a great sense for what can be built. That is an great quality in an architect.
In summary, the work is top notch, at a reasonable price, with no frustration whatsoever. I am happy to be a reference any time.

I was looking for an architect and to help me with my ADU garage conversion. I called 4 architects only one answered the phone and that was Anna Purvis. She gave me a rough idea of the process of going about getting a permit and what her scope of work would be and how it would be a great idea to have an architect to help me in the process. She also gave me her price for her work. So I actually did not call her back until a few months after the first phone call but when I did call her back she actually remembered me and we talked a bit more and I hired her. It was best decision I made in this entire process. The first meeting we had she was on time, unlike any of the contactors we had visit us. she took a look at the garage and assured she was going to take great care of us through this process and she has done an outstanding job. She said she would do some drawings over the weekend and send them to us by Monday, well she had them done on Friday. She is extremely prompt, knowledgeable and polite. She answered all of my questions no matter how many or dumb the questions were. She is very detailed and knows exactly how to navigate the permit process. She didn't want me to do work that was unnecessary to keep the project cost effective. She will even let you know if she thinks a bid is too high. I highly recommend having Anna Purvis on your side when dealing with this process. She has been worth every penny, you will not be disappointed.
